In 2013 Dave set of on the epic adventure to become the first ever person to climb the highest mountain in each of the seven continents from sea level. This entails him running back to back marathons from the nearest feasible sea or ocean to the base of the mountain then continuing to walk, crawl and climb his way to the summit.
With three of the seven already ticked off and two epic battles with the fourth, Dave shares a unique story of highs and lows and creating something that becomes bigger than yourself. His mantra of ‘take the path less traveled’ is about getting out of your comfort zone and chasing the dreams that society may deem as impractical and crazy.
With the aim to raise awareness and $100,000 for the Mental Health Foundation, he relates to this cause while explaining that giving up is not an option even though the path ahead seems dark and impassable. Dave explores the definitions of success and failure and challenges common interpretations of what these are perceived as.
Hearing Dave recount his experiences will take you on an exciting journey of triumph, lessons learnt and close calls. More importantly, it will help you rekindle a dream you have let slip to the back of your mind. Dave Williams has spoken to a wide range of groups including the Nepal Aid Charity Auction, NZ Alpine Club meetings, Auckland Young Professionals Association, YPO (NZ Chapter), National Councilors Conference, Rotary and Lions meets and also regularly speaks to schools.
