Location: the summit of Mt Kosciuszko

Distance: 17km to summit and 8km back to carpark

Thought of the day: the best experiences in life are shared

What I learnt: usually on a mountain I am praying for good weather but this time I was keen for everything getting thrown out way. Bad weather can be fun!

Thankyou’s:

Notes:
Finally summit day is upon us. It has been a really tough five days and we were both walking very gingerly for the first couple of km’s but that inner drive to knock this bastard off made it so much easier to bury that pain. Ryan was setting a blistering pace going up our first ridge in hail and 50km winds so we made really good time getting out of the bush and onto the road to our final checkpoint of Thredbo before we could start climbing. We grabbed our first meal in 3 days that wasn’t either porridge or salami (we didn’t mix the two) to refuel and obtain the energy required for our summit climb. After checking the weather update we learnt there was knee to thigh deep snow in places and much of the track was covered so we needed to get up there quick before any remaining snow tracks were blown away.
The snow and wind belted us all the way up and with a -10 windchill we needed to keep moving to stay warm.
After a couple of hours we had made it to the top and grabbed some great footage on the way (videos to come). It was another dream achieved and a step closer to the overall seven summits goal, but the special thing about this climb was being able to share the experience with a great friend who has a true spirit and heart for adventure.
This summit may not be as challenging as the others but it was a unique experience that helped me see the true beauty and raw power of our friend over the ditch as well as learning more valuable lessons about myself and this incredible journey/opportunity I am embarking on. Once again a huge thank you to everyone for their support and please help out by making a donation to the sea2summit7 cause by following the link bellow. Everything helps
